I sit alone with these pieces I’ve never shown
Through heavy seasons I leaned up on needles and stunted growth
Barely breathing, needing a reason to lead in hope
Tortured heathen rowing up seas with the heave and ho
I’m never sleeping, bailing out leagues in a leaky boat
We’re all bleeding 'cause taste of a dream it was seeming close
Now defeat is the feature of evil with teeth in rope
Without a beacon the light in the room is a grieving ghost
And these concrete shoes ain’t good for running or swimming
While in youth my views would glance around the village
Aging quickly cages hit me, on occasion played the villain
Found vacation and elation in a pill that nearly killed 'em
Cleared for years but I fear time is steering toward the feelings
So I remind myself that finding wealth ain't finance in a building
But a cry for help and finding self is finer than a million
So I’m mining out my mind to swell the liner of resilience

Sometimes you come across an artist that is compelled to do what they do.
I appreciate the musicality and the arrangement and the artistry of the songs. He sings and plays like his life depends on it. I appreciate the humanity of the lyrics… Like reading Tortilla Flats, or watching Nobody’s Fool.
Ceschi is a bright star. I’m glad he’s loose in the world. oldtruck

Absolutely love this record, and so happy Buck is back, but is it just me or does Buck’s voice sound totally different from his mid-2000s Talkin’ Honky era stuff? Like his voice is higher and smoother, I wasn’t even sure it was him. Is this a return to his really early straight hip-hop stuff, without the country and blues influences? misanthropologist
